The key phytochemicals in bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) are anthocyanins. Bilberry has become popular for its ability to help correct vision disorders associated with retina degeneration, including macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, poor night vision, and diabetic retinopathy. It also improves or prevents glaucoma and cataracts.

I like that this eye vitamin supplement has supportive ingredients like vitamin A, E, selenium and copper. Copper especially gets overlooked in many multivitamin/mineral supplements, even though only a tiny amount is needed, yet it’s essential for vision health. The eyecare 100 label says that lutein and zeaxanthin are included in a 5:1 ratio, yet it doesn’t specify the amount contained in the proprietary blend. The liquid capsules are very small, easy to swallow, and you only need to take one a day. Good manufacturing practices are followed and the USA based company incorporates 3rd party testing. Overall, this tiny gel cap is a simple add on for optimizing eye health.
